As the inaugural National Association for Black Journalists Chicago Chapter x Chicago Blackhawks Foundation Scholarship recipient, Karina was fortunate enough to work on a few projects with the Blackhawks organization. In February 2024, Karina served as the on-ice co-host alongside Jon Hansen and Genna Rose. Additionally, she wrote an article for Blackhawks.com spotlighting Black staff members during Black History Month and took photographs of said staff members. Read Karina's article here.
In March 2025, Karina continued her relationship with the Blackhawks, writing a feature article on Deion’s Chicago Dream, a nonprofit actively partnered with the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation.
